THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!

ON

Rather than comment on Morgan's blog I would prefer to state my opinions on this matter.

First, I AM OVER THE MOON THAT THE CONGESTION CHARGE HAS BEEN REJECTED, for these reasons.

1 It demonstrates the will of the people.

2 It shows how out of touch Wigan Metro is from the people's views. Remember they voted for this, but no doubt senior members of the council would not have to pay or be reimbursed if they did.

3 The people realise it is just another tax which would cost millions to collect.

4 It would penalise business and commuters who have to use their cars to get to work. Everybody does not live near to a bus stop or station.

The proponents of the scheme state there is no "plan B". Why not? They thought it would just be nodded through without dissent. Well they were wrong and I hope it brings them down to size. The people are sick of being taken for granted.

Any sensible person knows there is an obvious "plan B". Gordon Brown, in an effort to stimulate the economy reduced VAT "to encourage spending in the High Street" ie on cheap foreign "tat" to the benefit of China and the big store companies who contribute to the Labour Party funds. Would it not have been better if he had not reduced VAT by a marginal extent at great cost and had put the money into improved transport and other infrastructure thus providing BRITISH JOBS and something to show for it afterwards?

People , when asked what they want always say "job security". What better way of bringing us out of recession could there be than improving our transport links?

Instead of subsidising banks and countries such as India which has a space programme and several billionaires some of whom own large parts of our industry, how about some money to improve the North West who built this country's wealth through coal and cotton and which has been over the years been sucked away to the City of London?

We want better public transport. We have already paid for it by the efforts of our ancestors.

Now it's pay back time. WE WANT IT!

WE DERSERVE IT!

NOW REPAY YOUR DEBTS! and give us a proper public transport system! YOU OWE IT TO US!

There were of course many problems that would have had to be overcome before this scheme was activated, but that is not a reason to reject a proposal such as this one. With this attitude the Wright brothers would have been told forget it it's simply not practical.

Anyway the congestion charge is now dead, and in a democracy we must accept that that must be final. But traffic congestion hasn't disappeared! So I'm of the opinion that people who campaigned against this scheme now have an obligation to put forward an alternative proposal. The right to free speech surely comes with that moral obligation at least.

We need now to hear the alternative plan I sincerely hope you have waiting under wraps.

Come on you can't expect me to agree with you all the time, can you?

Of course I have Chris.
Go ahead with the scheme without paying millions to collect charges.
We have already paid our taxes and this government wastes our money on banks and VAT cuts etc. They can afford to go ahead with the public transport improvements without taxing us more.
Remember the Wright brothers did not ask for a tax to be levied to pay for their experiments.

It's the charges that are wrong, not the scheme.

A posting laying out these proposal would be a nice local touch. I know they won't be official BNP policies, but on a local blog such ideas will, I think, show the presence of an active local branch with positive ideas for the local area.

PS.
The Wigan blog gets 10 out of 10 for content(local stories very well written), but only 3 out of 10 for presentation. See the Liverpool blog for ideas.

Hi Chris,

Me and the missus were just having a debate on what colour of toilet paper to use in our downstairs loo?

We have Butterscotch walls with a white ceiling and I think the light green two-ply will look great, but, my missus wants a twin ply double strength and patterned design in beige!!

Can you help, Chris?

Dear Leigh Lancashire Nationalist.

Yes of course I can help: You can pray for guidance from your almighty Mr Griffin, or alternative just remove the light bulb in your downstairs loo. The first suggestion allows Mr Griffin to give advice in an area he is well qualified in, while the second helps reduce your Carbon footprint.

Try to come to terms with you feminine side, this will improve your persona. Red is your lucky colour, and gravel is your luck stone. While Jupiter being in line with Mars, means its time for you to start using the brains God gave you to analyse the current situation within the party. Your unlucky club is the Nick Griffin fan club.

Keep well

Chris,

You are a diamond in sorting out my loo roll dilemma, thank you!

And do you know what Chris? With your words of wisdom! I'm going to vote YES in the Greater Manchester congestion charge referendum!

Cheers pal!

You said:

"I'm going to vote YES in the Greater Manchester congestion charge referendum!"

I say:
Excellent!

And if they give you any hassle about it being a week late, just tell them you were stuck in traffic!

Sorry you are disappointed about the layout of our blog. The reason is I am not really very computer literate but am slowly learning. I can't pretend to compete with the Liverpool blog but am thinking of changing the layout but have not made my mind up yet.

As a postscript the background of the blog would match the colour of Gary's toilet paper and it would make him feel more at home and likely to visit the blog(bog)? and thus help his contemplation.

Hi Charles,

As long as you understand it's the presentation that I think could be improved, the stories are excellent!

Local (mostly) well written short and to the point. The Wigan blog should be aimed at a local readership (which I know it is), national stories are covered over and over again in 100 other blogs all saying much the same thing. Wigan is one of the few local blogs we have, and (presentation excepted) its about the best. I'm becoming an avid reader!
