Lord Hill faces 'conflict of interest' claim over shares
David Cameron’s newest Cabinet minister has been allowed to keep shares in a
major international lobbying firm working for clients with lucrative
government contracts.
"The Daily Telegraph can disclose that Lord Hill of Oareford has already
intervened to support plans to sell state school playing fields to Tesco, a
client of the lobbying company that he founded.
Quiller Consultants’ registered clients who hold government contracts include
the controversial welfare to work firm A4e, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Other organisations on Quiller’s books affected by coalition policies include
HSBC Bank, the United Arab Emirates government and Telefonica O2.
Lord Hill, the new Leader of the House of Lords, co-founded Quiller in 1998.
The firm was then sold to Huntsworth, the international public relations
group, in 2006.
The peer's spokesman confirmed that he retains shares in Huntsworth but
declined to say how much the shares were worth."
