TREVOR PHILLIPS - WHY I SHOULD BE SACKED.

Christians are more militant than Muslims, says Government's equalities boss

Muslims are integrating into British society better than many Christians, according to the head of the Government's equality watchdog.

Trevor Phillips warned that "an old time religion incompatible with modern society" is driving the revival in the Anglican and Catholic Churches and clashing with mainstream views, especially on homosexuality.

He accused Christians, particularly evangelicals, of being more militant than Muslims in complaining about discrimination, arguing that many of the claims are motivated by a desire for greater political influence.

However the chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission expressed concern that people of faith are "under siege" from atheists whom he accused of attempting to "drive religion underground".

In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph ahead of a landmark report on religious discrimination in Britain, he said the Commission wants to protect Christians and Muslims from discrimination, admitting his body had not been seen to stand up for the people discriminated against because of their faith in the past.

In a wide-ranging intervention into the debate over the role of religion in modern Britain, Mr Phillips:

* warned it had become "fashionable" to attack and mock religion, singling out atheist polemicist Richard Dawkins for his views;

* said faith groups should be free from interference in their own affairs, meaning churches should be allowed to block women and homosexuals from being priests and bishops;

* attacked hardline Christian groups which he said were picking fights - particularly on the issue of homosexuality - for their own political ends;

* told churches and religious institutions they had to comply with equality legislation when they delivered services to the public as a whole.

The report, published by the Commission tomorrow, says that some religious groups have been the victims of rising discrimination over the last decade.

It shows that in the course of the last decade, the number of employment tribunal cases on religion or belief brought each year has risen from 70 to 1000 - although only a fraction of cases were upheld.

Mr Phillips spoke after a series of high-profile cases which have featured Christians claiming they have been discriminated against because of their beliefs, with a doctor currently fighting a reprimand from the General Medical Council for sharing his faith with a patient.

While the equalities boss promised to fight for the rights of Christians, he expressed concern that many cases were driven by fundamentalist Christians who are holding increasing sway over the mainstream churches because of the influence of African and Caribbean immigrants with "intolerant" views.

In contrast, Muslims are less vociferous because they are trying to integrate into British "liberal democracy", he said.

"I think there's an awful lot of noise about the Church being persecuted but there is a more real issue that the conventional churches face that the people who are really driving their revival and success believe in an old time religion which in my view is incompatible with a modern, multi-ethnic, multicultural society," Phillips said.

"Muslim communities in this country are doing their damnedest to try to come to terms with their neighbours to try to integrate and they're doing their best to try to develop an idea of Islam that is compatible with living in a modern liberal democracy.

"The most likely victim of actual religious discrimination in British society is a Muslim but the person who is most likely to feel slighted because of their religion is an evangelical Christian."

Senior clergy, including Lord Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, have attacked equality laws for eroding Christianity and stifling free speech, but Phillips said many of the legal cases brought by Christians on issues surrounding homosexuality were motivated by an attempt to gain political influence.

"I think for a lot of Christian activists, they want to have a fight and they choose sexual orientation as the ground to fight it on," he said.

"I think the whole argument isn't about the rights of Christians. It's about politics. It's about a group of people who really want to have weight and influence."

He added: "There are a lot of Christian activist voices who appear bent on stressing the kind of persecution that I don't think really exists in this country."

However, Mr Phillips, who is a Salvationist from a strong Christian background, expressed concern over the rise in Britain of anti-religious voices, such as Richard Dawkins, who are intolerant of people of faith.

"I understand why a lot of people in faith groups feel a bit under siege," he said.

"There's no question that there is more anti-religion noise in Britain.

"There's a great deal of polemic which is anti-religious, which is quite fashionable."

Phillips said that the Commission is committed to protecting people of faith against discrimination and also defended the right of religious institutions to be free from Government interference.

The Church of England is under pressure to allow openly gay clergy to be made bishops, while the Catholic Church only permits men to be priests, but the head of the Government-funded equalities watchdog said they are entitled to rule on their own affairs.

"The law doesn't dictate their organisation internally, in the way they appoint their ministers and bishops for example," he said.

"It's perfectly fair that you can't be a Roman Catholic priest unless you're a man. It seems right that the reach of anti-discriminatory law should stop at the door of the church or mosque.

"I'm not keen on the idea of a church run by the state.

"I don't think the law should run to telling churches how they should conduct their own affairs."

The intervention by the Commission comes after criticism of its £70 million annual budget, which is to be cut drastically.

Mr Phillips, a former Labour chairman of the Greater London Assembly and television producer was criticised for his £110,000 a year salary and was accused of "pandering to the right" by Ken Livingstone, the former Labour London mayor, for saying that multiculturalism had failed.

----------------------------------

What a dangerously deranged man holding UNLAWFUL OFFICE ruling over the INDIGENOUS BRITISH.

No wonder our country's in such a mess.

The Unions threating a GENERAL STRIKE, funny how they wait for the Tories to take hold before they decide to act.

The break up of the British Army as a viable Standing Army with many Senior Officers opting for REDUNDANCY rather than act on behalf of another TREASONUS GOVERNMENT who have sold OUR SOLDIERS AND THEIR COUNTRY OUT.

MILITANT ISLAM RISING, PAEDOPHILIC GROOMING of UNDERAGE GIRLS continues unabated.

What Philips really means is the INDIGENOUS CHRISTIAN POPULATION deciding to fight back.

MASS UNEMPLOYMENT and RISING PRICES.....

Could the country erupt in to MASS CIVIL UNREST? some people point out the EDL as some sort of "Fight back", yet all they can do is liase with police and then get herded into Secure Enclosures to protest impotently in a nowhere part of town.

As the money gets tighter the ungrateful foreign hordes will demand more and more of a shrinking pot leaving the INDIGENOUS POPULATION in ever more POVERTY.

So don't be surprised if it does boil over, it's been simmering for years, don't forget the warnings of the last couple of years where the Labour party Government declared that their would be CIVIL UNREST ON THE STREETS, yet it never occured. Things are MUCH MUCH WORSE and will get much much worse than in 2008-2009. Better batten down the hatches, it's going to get rougher.

Philips and his ilk should be held responsible for what is to come, he knows the MULTI-CULT EXPERIMENT HAS FAILED yet still opts to defend a FOREIGN MONOCULTURE with different ideas on PEACE and HARMONY and THEIR PLACE IN OUR COUNTRY, enabled by the TREASONUS LIB/LAB/CONS RACIST LACKEYS like Philips and the UNIONS and the Police. The Army seems to be deserting the traitots of the Lib/Lab/Con by opting for redundancy. Let's hope they decide to join us and start FIGHTING BACK AGAINST THE TRAITORS IN POWER.

To survive as a NATION we must have NATIONALISM NOW.

Mr Kuffar
An interesting post which unfortunately will not be seen by the masses.
Phillips is to put it mildly a stooge, which bit of Curly,Larry or Mo that he is doesn'nt matter save to say they were a comedy act.
On a more serious note, are the indigenous peoples of this land waking up and smelling the coffee.
IMHO yes they are, although right now it is not entirely clear to them and I do apologise to people who are aware of what the ultimate agenda is as regards the world and not our tiny island.
There are dark forces at work and they have been from as far back as centuries.
Google the Federal Reserve Bank and look at it's beginnings, look at Illuminati, look at Bilderberg and look at New World Order.
New World Order is not a pie in the sky bunch of misfits coming out with the most outrageous theories,it is happening right now compliments of the power mad high finance world stage players, who frankly want to control the world.
This world system of ours is now in a state of engineered flux.
We have A-merica who want to get in bed with Canada and with Mexico and other S/American states to create a bloc.
On the other hand we have a EUSSR bunch of economical chancers who want to create their failed dreams of state communism, which in fact was exposed as nothing more than state capitalism.
As regards the banksters, their only interests right now is how we can reduce exposure as to what our profits are.
Another subject and sorry for this.
Global warming/climate change and now Global cooling.
What the hell are these psuedo goverment paid scientists and I use the word advisedly are about.
Some figures for you the Royal Academy of Engineers, produced the following:-
1) the cheapest way to produce leccy is by gas fired stations.
2)The dearest way is by wind power.
This is why people you right now are having your leccy bills reflecting a 20% increase, and also on top of your ever increasing bills
from these foreign owned rip off merchants who could'nt care a toss about this land.
People of BRITAIN,please please wake up to the fact that Britain is being sold down the river by this bunch of financial terrorists

It has been tried many times before. If all those others have failed what will make the BNP efforts so different?
This is not a put down just a genuine thought.
The media have in the past ignored all efforts by others to bring these referendum demands into the public eye.
I do believe even those with fingers in pies would not be able to make anything anti EU high profile without drawing the wrong type of attention. Not that I would know of course but just a guess.
It may take a leaflet through every door in Britain.
I am sure Mr Griffin can see the EU is in crisis anyway with Greece closely followed by Portugal, Eire and Spain that have debts and repayments that are way beyond these countries means. Britain is close on these countries heels and if they default it will bring us all tumbling down like a pack of cards.
OUT OF THE EU NOW - BRING OUR TROOPS HOME -

Has there been any comeback from the BNP's HQ, after the disgraceful behaviour of CJ at the recent Wigan Branch meeting. The YouTube video of the event really shows the problem with many of the party's senior officers.

Has CJ imposed a new organiser on the Wigan group.

I know that what I am about to say will provoke adverse comment.
Nevertheless here goes, when will you guys wake up and realise how you get the BNP message across millions of people and let me add if your seemingly endless message is centered around muzzies, well frankly you are wrong.
Yes we indigenous peoples have problems with this lot,but do you not think ordinary people whilst they agree with you have lots of other problems which are of more urgent nature.
You really need to be focussing on these problems.
As you are well aware of mention racism in any way shape or form and the MSM will crucify you as per their masters wishes.
Alternatively you can spread the message across the internet which can reach millions in milliseconds about what is being done to the people which will affect many millions.
Don't refer to the BNP that plays into wrong hands, instead play the independant card, play on peoples fear of economic circumstances that could severely impact on them.
Do this via all means of blogs which the media tossers can't influence.
Exploit every item that comes from the powers that be that you can via the internet.
Get away from narrow views that can be exploited to your disadvantage, focus on what really matters to people right now.
The muzzies problem can be addressed later having seen that people are waking up.

I see from Eddy Butler's blog the Griffin has, by the introduction of proxy votes, effectively scuppered Andrew Bron's leadership challenge even before it's begun.

If this is in fact the case, how will the Wigan branch respond? And, if on Sunday Griffin does deny AB the chance to challenge him, will you then accept that the party has become nothing more than a NG fan-club.

It should be blatantly obvious to everyone now that Griffin sees the party as a source of income, nothing more.

I look forward to seeing an honest and frank report of Sunday's EGM on this blog. Because I don't think the official BNP site will give anything more than NG's version of the meeting.

A lot of comments on here about the BNP and Griffs stranglehold on it.
A party which operates under a banner of one man who determines what goes on is frankly a dictatorship.
A party which operates as a free and democratic entity is an entirely different scenario.
When I look at the BNP just what do I see? well I see a party which right now is not at peace with itself because of conflicting values.
Will Griff bring the party to a state of harmony, probably not, because that is not in his personal agenda.
Will the party survive?again probably not in it's current form.
IMHO as it stands right now you will be an also ran party which is a real pity considering you could have achieved so much with the right leadership.

Are you anon, attending Sundays meeting ? You seem to have a lot to say on the matter.

Question to Eddys anon friend..

What is your problem, with the following ?

From the BNP Website…..

“ General Members’ Meeting to vote on the proposed Constitutional Reform package.
proxy vote forms to all two-year-plus members to use if they cannot come in person to Sunday's very important General Members’

We then looked into forms used by big companies to give proxy votes at their AGMs and immediately prepared our own.

"I'm very conscious of the fact that the party needs – if possible – not just a clear and decisive set of results, but also for as large a proportion of the qualified membership to feel that they have played a part in coming to whatever decision is reached," Nick Griffin told us today.

"While we would of course far rather that two-year-plus members come in person, where they cannot, the proxy vote gives them the possibility either to express their own wishes or to entrust their votes to a key named official to use on their behalf after having taken into account the debates and opinions on the day.

"I look forward to a good turnout on Sunday, and hopefully to a high standard of debate and an outcome which, whether any particular individual agrees with it or not, we all know truly reflects the collective will and wisdom of the party."
If you have received a proxy vote and are unable to attend the meeting in person, please take a few minutes to read the motions and amendments, and fill in the form and return it to us.

We would of course prefer to see everyone who is entitled to attend there in person, but we understand that for some people this is not going to be possible, and so we would encourage them to not lose their chance to have their say by returning their proxy form today.
Thank you. “....

I cannot attend, I do not own a car, so am grateful of my proxy vote. My vote will be counted,

DEMOCRACY.

"Are you anon, attending Sundays meeting ? You seem to have a lot to say on the matter."
.............................

No I won't be attending the meeting, and there are two reasons for this.

1.
I'm no longer a member.

2.
The last time I tried to attend an EGM, intending to ask questions about Griffin's leadership, I was refused entry because of my violent behaviour at the previous year's RWB. But as I had not attend the previous year's RWB, I think you can see Griffin does not embrace democracy.

You have nothing constructive to say and I have never been to the ukip site nor commented on it.
I'm an ETHNO NATIONALIST, not a civic Nationalist. But then again you don't know me and I don't care.

What is important to me is ETHNO NATIONALISM, SAVING OUR COUNTRY AND PEOPLE AND THE PARTY.

What's important to you ?

NO. The Wigan members would not wear it and would probably prefer to keep an organiser that is forced on us at arms length and would not be willing to co-operate with a forced Organiser on the group.

As for the Numpty party part, I think you should avoid such comments until after today's EGM in St.Helens. By tonight I think everyone will be able to see which is the real Numpty party.

Goodluck anyway, because with Griffin in charge you're sure going to need it.

your many boreing rants about global warming, for a start.
Global warming, is NOT top of most persons agenda. Whats UKIPs agenda on Global warming, is it one of their vote catchers ?

Anonymous said...

Dear Anonymous (01:09hrs),

UKIP's present position (although not I believe a party policy) is that it isn't happening. And that, given the overwhelming scientific evidence that it is, is a tragedy. Unfortunately that also mirrors the views of a large minority of voters in this country. There is a concentrative effort by the big multinational oil companies and Arab oil producing states to muddy the waters and delay action. In exactly the same way as the tobacco industry did, in the 50,60,70's, they realise that every year they delay action means hundreds of billions of dollars profit for them. And just like the British business men, who imported cheap labour from the commonwealth in the 50's & 60's, what happens in 50 years time after they're dead doesn't concern them in the least.

On another subject: the comment about UKIP being a numpty party. I see that Griffin is now insisting that all officers (and those elected to office by the voters) give him an signed undated letter of resignation that he can use at any time if they step out of line (for stepping out of line read criticise his leadership).

Would I call the BNP a numpty party, NO! Because its not a genuine political party of any kind any more, it's now nothing but a Nick Griffin fan club.
