It's not often that I have heard a speech which raised the hairs on the back of my neck, so in tune was it with my own thoughts and beliefs than when I heard the speech by Enoch Powell who was born one hundred years ago today.
I had during my medical training made many friends from India and Pakistan and other countries and even had one staying with me for a month, so I was not "racist" in any way. But I believed this was my country and they had theirs to which they should return and my friends agreed.
I have to accept I knew no people of African origin but when I heard his speech I was elated that a senior member of the government felt the way I and millions of others felt.
It was not the individuals we objected to but the mass settlements of foreigners with different traditions in our crowded country.
I believed in the people of our country, and that we could survive and thrive in the new conditions prevailing then as I do now.
I was concerned at the mass influx of settlers, not visitors seeking education and then returning home which I believed would alter my country for the worse.
In his oft misquoted "rivers of blood" (he never said those words) speech he warned of the social divisions which would inevitably follow mass immigration.
AND HE WAS PROVED RIGHT.
Right when he said the black man would have the whiphand and our country would become ghettoised.
But unfortunately his boss the Prime Minister was the biggest traitor our country has had the misfortune to suffer (and that takes some doing) Heath.
This closet pervert had the ambition of destroying our country as an independent democracy and replacing it as a subservient satellite to the EU.
Of course it was called the "Common Market" to lull us into thinking it was just a free trade area rather than a political concept designed to subvert the nation states of Europe into the undemocratic monolith which we now have.
Powell saw and understood this, and perhaps that is why Heath saw an opportunity to sack him.
Almost unique among politicians Powell stood by his beliefs and campaigned against the concept, even deserting the Tory Party advising people to vote Labour. Later he went to Northern Ireland and sat as a Unionist MP.
A man of foresight and integrity he put personal preferment and money aside to stand by what he believed was best for his country.
HE WAS UNCORRUPTIBLE---AND RIGHT.
His prophesies have been proved correct. We have racial conflict and the possibility of inter racial violence.
The black man does have the whip hand, aided by the anti British race laws.
AND the EU which the Common Market has morphed into (as he foretold) is a disaster and has caused a decline in the standard of living in Britain and other European countries.
The above issues and consequences above which he foretold have come to pass.
He was a great man to whom the truth was more important than monetary gain or status.
AN HONEST POLITICIAN and a visionary.
Where among the present political classes can we find such a statesman?
No chance, they are all avaricious pygmies.
But we need such a man NOW-- AND SOON.
Will we find one? I hope so.
OUR NEED IS DESPERATE.
